The Charitable Housing Investment Tax Credit (HITC) is an opportunity to support affordable housing in Vermont and reduce your Vermont income taxes.
The Vermont Housing Improvement Program provides rental property owners up to $50,000 per unit to cover the costs of bringing vacant and non-code-compliant rental units up to code. These units must serve a household exiting homelessness or actively working with an immigrant or refugee resettlement program for a minimum of five years. There is also supplement funding available through the Healthy Home Initiative (HHI), which can cover the cost of certain water-related expenses.
