VERMONT DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AWARDS FOODSCIENCE CORPORATION WITH AN EDUCATION GRANT TO DEVELOP LEADERS

Williston, VT – May 22, 2018 – The State of Vermont, Department of Economic Development, awarded FoodScience Corporation an education and training program grant worth over $100,000.  FoodScience Corporation will match the grant and invest in developing employees.  For over 30 years, Vermont Training Program (VTP) has been offering performance-based workforce training grants.  This is the first year in FoodScience’s 40 year Vermont history that they have applied for and been awarded a grant from VTP.  “Attracting and retaining talented, hardworking Vermonters is a critical part of my Administration’s efforts to rebuild our workforce, which makes programs like this – which invest in employees – so valuable,” said Governor Phil Scott.

The grant will be leveraged for a leadership program.  FoodScience has contracted with the Center for Creative Leadership for the education program.  The skills gained through this training will improve the leadership capabilities throughout the organization.  With this investment in management and leadership skills and capabilities, FoodScience endeavors to create a high-performance organization, increase employee engagement, and enable consistently profitable, sustainable, and high growth business results.

John Young, Director of Workforce Development Programs at VTP notes that, “VTP leverages its grant budget to serve Vermonters across a broad range of industry sectors and puts a focus on new and innovative training projects.  We are delighted to recognize FoodScience with this grant in recognition of the great things they are doing and the investment they are making in their employees and Vermont. ”

Sharon Rossi, FoodScience’s CEO, said: “We are honored to receive a Vermont Training Program grant.  We are matching the grant and undertaking a significant workforce education program.  VTP is a strategic workforce development partner, enabling us to enhance the skills of our Vermont workforce, increase our productivity, and broaden our offerings as a Vermont employer.”  Further, Rossi added that FoodScience is growing rapidly, creating the need for increased workforce development, and that “this is a significant investment in the long term success of FoodScience Corporation in Vermont.”  With this grant, Gina Walter, HR Manager, noted “FoodScience will invest in world class leadership development training to drive sustained impact for our team, business, and Vermont.”  The leadership education program will help FoodScience leaders strengthen their ability to get the results that keep the company growing and adding to the Vermont economy.
