TELLING THE VERMONT STORY AS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK, LIVE AND DO BUSINESS
After a competitive Request for Proposal process, ACCD selected Development Counsellors International of New York, NY and Spike Advertising of Alburgh, VT to develop a three-year economic development marketing plan for the State of Vermont. This strategic document, completed in May 2016, outlines specific marketing tactics to generate economic growth.
Ideas include targeting national, trade and niche media outlets with finely honed pitches about Vermont businesses — some highly successful, some unexpected-for-Vermont, some cutting-edge — all interesting! Digital outreach campaigns will tout our quality of life, including our great schools and awesome outdoor recreation opportunities, and expanded partnerships with colleges and universities will help connect employers and employees. Implementation kicked off in earnest with the launch of a new website in October 2017, ThinkVermont.com, that now acts as a hub for inspiring stories, encouraging statistics and lots of links to useful information for expanding businesses and potential residents alike. Tactics in the plan continue to be implemented, all in an effort to support existing Vermont businesses, attract new businesses and expand Vermont’s workforce by attracting and retaining young people to the state.
