Small Businesses Invited to the 2018 Training and Matchmaker Event – Government to Industry: Bridging Opportunities

MONTPELIER, VT – Small businesses throughout New England and New York will have the opportunity to meet procurement and prime contractors, as well as representatives from state and federal government agencies, at the 2018 Training and Matchmaker Event being held on June 20th and 21st at the Killington Grand Resort Hotel and Conference Center in Killington, VT.

Delivered by the Vermont Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) in partnership with the Department of Defense Northeast Regional Council, and sponsored by Elbit Systems of America, Kollsman Inc., the Vermont Agency of Transportation and the Vermont Department of Economic Development, the event will feature networking opportunities, practical training sessions, and a series of ten-minute-long, prescheduled and industry-code-matched one-on-one appointments.

“We are very excited to be supporting this matchmaker event, which will be an invaluable opportunity for small businesses to network, learn and gain business, and a chance for prime contractors and government agencies to fulfill purchasing requirements,” said Joan Goldstein, Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Economic Development.

The training sessions will cover some of the programs available for government contracting such as the Small Business Innovation Research Programs (SBIRs), the Small Business Administration’s HUBZone Program, and the General Services Administration Programs. Others will introduce businesses to State of Vermont Agencies offering contracts and will guide them through the process to obtain such contracts as well as cybersecurity compliance and panel discussions led by key industry leaders. Businesses will also have the opportunity to meet with local and New England resources and obtain one-on-one consultations with PTAC personnel to review their Capability Statement, and more. Small Business Professional Training (SBP) for primes and government (Buyers) will also be offered.

A networking reception will be held at the end of the first day, June 20th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. This event will offer a chance for procurement professionals and small businesses to get an early start on introductions before the matchmaking sessions take place the following day.
