The Online Resource Center ( ORC) provides online access to all of the Division for Historic Preservation’s documents related to historic preservation activities throughout the state since the 1960s. All existing paper records have been digitized and uploaded to the ORC and newly generated materials will be added to the ORC on a routine basis.
The ORC enables staff, consultants, researchers, educators, and the general public to view hundreds of thousands of documents that were previously only available in hard copy in our Resource Room in Montpelier. Anyone with internet access can now access detailed information about Vermont’s historic resources, at any time and from anywhere in the world.
The following file types have been digitized and uploaded to the ORC:
- Advisory Council on Historic Preservation
- Meeting Agendas & Minutes
- Historic Contexts
- Environmental Review (Project Review)
- Historic Sites and Structures Survey
- National Register of Historic Places
- Project Files
- State Register of Historic Places
- Town Files
- Town Reports
- Vermont Archaeological Inventroy
PLEASE NOTE: General public access to records containing information about the location of archaeological sites and underwater historic properties is restricted. Archaeology professionals can request access to these records by reading the VAI ORC Policy for User Access and completing the VAI ORC Application Instructions and Application.
If approved, you will be given a username and password to access the archaeology records in the ORC. Access expires every December 31st and is for one year only. You will be reminded annually of the need to reapply.
