Six Rutland Area Businesses Receive Vermont Training Program Grants

SIX RUTLAND AREA BUSINESSES RECEIVE VERMONT TRAINING PROGRAM GRANTS

Rutland, Vt. – Governor Phil Scott today announced that six Rutland County businesses have received a total of $696,797 in Vermont Training Program Grants from the Vermont Department of Economic Development to train 470 employees. The grants, which range from $12,800 to $281,889, will be used to provide training for employees specific to each company’s specialty and future growth goals.

“Strengthening and expanding Vermont’s workforce is a top priority for my Administration,” said Gov. Scott. “As we work to grow our economy and create greater opportunity for Vermonters, this grant program provides valuable training for Vermont workers and supports strong businesses.” 

The companies receiving the grants are:

  • GE Aviation: A world-leading provider of commercial, military, business and general aviation jet and turboprop engines, and components, as well as avionics, electrical power and mechanical systems for aircraft.
  • New England Woodcraft: A custom contract furniture manufacturer furnishing universities, colleges and military bases all over the world.
  • Awesome Graphics: An award winning, full-service sign, print and design company with under 25 employees offering high quality printing, signs and banners, vehicle graphics, trade show booth displays and more.
  • Hubbardton Forge: One of the country’s oldest and largest commercial forges operating today, designs and creates commercial and residential lighting fixtures and employs approximately 245 people in Vermont.
  • Isovolta AG: A manufacturer and supplier of electrical insulating materials, technical laminates, and composites to various industries worldwide. It has under 50 employees.
  • Ellison Surface Technologies: An industry leader in engineered surface coating solutions and special processes.

The Vermont Training Program provides performance-based workforce grants for training new hires and incumbent workers for new or existing businesses who meet the program requirements. Training can either be on-site or through a training provider/vendor. Grants may cover up to 50 percent of the training cost.
