The legislative commission on Act 250 has scheduled six public forums. The first one was in Springfield on June 27 at 6 pm. Here’s a list of the remaining meetings:
- July 25, Royalton (Chase Community Center, Vermont Law School)
- August 22, Island Pond (American Legion)
- September 5, Rutland (Franklin Conference Center)
- September 10, Burlington (Burlington Elks Lodge)
We encourage industry partners to attend a forum so that your presence is noted on record. Your attendance and submission of written comments and suggestions about process improvement are important. It is unlikely that there will be another opportunity in the near term to weigh in on such an important topic for Vermont.
We believe that your attendance and submission of written comments and suggestions about process improvement are essential. There will not be an open public forum opportunity.
The structure of these public forums includes a brief introduction to Act 250, followed by small group activities to draw out participants’ priorities for the Vermont landscape and the Act 250 process. For example, in one exercise participants will be asked to prioritize values such as Agricultural and Forest Productivity, Settlement Patterns, Economic Development, Public Trust, and Scenic Natural Beauty. In another, participants will be asked to grapple with access and voice, exemptions, jurisdiction, permitting and appeals.
The Commission’s Facebook page is, at present, the best source of specific information about the meetings.
