Vermont Brewers Association Launches New Mobile App
BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Vermont Brewers Association has launched a new mobile app that will help the marketing of breweries and craft beer around the state.
Features on the app include finding nearby breweries, adding breweries to a mobile passport, locating various styles of beer within Vermont, earning rewards and merchandise by collecting stamps, and following news about brewery events. The app also includes an interactive brewery map featuring beer trails to visit across the state.
The free app is now available for download in the App Store and Google Play and includes every Vermont brewery open to the public. Users can now carry their passport on their phone and never miss the opportunity for another stamp.
“The app has been live for a month now and the feedback we are getting from our beta users has been phenomenal. We are really proud of the platform we have built and the experience both locals and tourists can get from engaging with the Vermont Brewery Challenge,” said Vermont Brewers Association Executive Director Melissa Corbin. “This project was made possible due to the support from the state’s Department of Economic Development and the Department of Tourism and Marketing. Commissioners at the helm of these departments recognize the craft beer industry as a key player in our state’s tourism and value our economic impact.”
A portion of the cost of the app was funded by a $46,000 grant from the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC). Vermont’s Agency of Commerce and Community Development solicits, and reviews grant applications on behalf of NBRC.
“We are very pleased to see that NBRC grant funds have been put to such a great use,” said Vermont Department of Economic Development Commissioner Joan Goldstein. “The app allows the Vermont Brewers Association to provide a dynamic tool that provides beer enthusiasts the ability to see brewery offerings, specials, and information in real time.”
About NBRC: Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) is one of seven Federal-State partnerships created to improve the economic vitality of a region sharing common attributes. NBRC was modeled after the Appalachian Regional Commission. Authorized by Congress in 2008 (PUB.L. 110–246, Sec. 14217) and first appropriated funds by Congress in 2010. NBRC is a partnership between the federal government and the states of Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont to promote economic growth strategies and projects in the northern counties of its member states.
