In recognition of Vermont’s rich history of quarrying, manufacturing and utilizing its abundant deposits of granite, marble and slate, the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing has published The Vermont Stone Trail guide to help visitors explore the many attractions and destinations in the state that are tied to these valued resources.

In addition to the beautiful fall foliage that will return to Vermont this September, the month is also marked by a number of festivals and shows that make the state a great place to visit during late summer and early autumn. One of Vermont's premier music events, Grace Potter's Grand Point North, will be held September 17 and 18.

A special birthday party will honor the Bennington Battle Monument on Saturday, August 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sponsored by the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation and the Friends of the Bennington Battle Monument, the celebration will mark the 125th anniversary of the dedication of the venerable Vermont landmark.

Returning to the Burlington Waterfront for the first time in a decade, Wings Over Vermont will perform free air shows to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Vermont Air National Guard. Put on by the Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation, two free shows will take place Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14.

After a ten-year hiatus, the Wings Over Vermont air show returns to Burlington’s Waterfront Park on August 13 and 14. Put on by the Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation, the air show will feature military and vintage aircraft, as well as gliders and other light aircraft.
