VAHC has many projects for interested volunteers. We also host occasional teacher training sessions and educational programs for 4th-12th grade students. We are particularly interested in developing research projects with motivated undergraduate and graduate students. Our State Archaeologist is more than happy to provide guidance toward thesis and dissertation topics.

Vermont Archaeology Month

Vermont Archaeology Month Celebrated its 21st Year: Learn and Explore 13,000 Years of Vermont History

Exhibits

Dugout Canoe
Dugout Canoe
VAHC provides opportunities for students, educators, and interested visitors to study how past people and their cultures inform the present. A series of timelines and panels recount documented information about Vermont’s past and its people. Display cases with rotating exhibits contain artifacts from significant archaeological sites throughout the state and explain how these sites were identified and what they tell us about the people who occupied them.

Collections

Vermont Archaeology Heritag Center Collections

VAHC houses artifact collections and archival sources in secure, climate-controlled rooms. These collections are based on excavations, and analyses of archaeological sites and represent every county in the state and every major period of Vermont’s 13,000-year history.
