Government Contracting (VT PTAC)
The Vermont Procurement Technical Assistance Center (VT PTAC) exists to help Vermont businesses succeed in obtaining government contracts. The center offers free counseling services to Vermont businesses and provides assistance on how to bid on government contracts at the federal, state and local levels.
VT PTAC’s mission is to:
- Increase the percentage of federal contracts awarded to Vermont businesses with particular emphasis on contracts awarded to small businesses. The federal spending can flow to businesses either as direct contract recipients, or through subcontractors to prime contractors with federal government contracts.
- Ensure that Vermont businesses are awarded the maximum number of contracts possible under state and local contracting invitations to bid.
- Facilitate business-to-business commerce opportunities for Vermont businesses.
VT PTAC team assists and supports Vermont businesses in three areas:
Trained and knowledgeable counselors, with valuable know-how, will help clarify the requirements and simplify the process of government contracting/subcontracting so that your business can successfully obtain and perform to federal, state, and local contracts. Your business will receive technical assistance to access procurement databases that will allow you to bid on government contracts and source the answers needed to streamline the procurement process. Your business will also benefit from our expertise in market assessment and government market research.
Business counselors have a proven track record to aid a business’ understanding and expectation of the bidding process.
One on one counseling and training to Vermont businesses in bid and contract performance means that your business will be fully supported through the entire process of fact finding how to bid on government contracts right through to contract award and performance measurements. VTPTAC works with federal agencies and federal prime contractors to meet their federally mandated goals for how contracts are awarded to small businesses, including: SDB/8a, HUB Zone, Veteran Owned/Service Disabled, and Woman Owned businesses. We also provide assistance to Vermont companies in how to identify, bid, and win grants for Small Business Innovation Research programs and R&D opportunities to advance your ideas too. Click on the highlighted area for more information.
VTPTAC also facilitates ‘matchmaking’ services to Vermont businesses by matching buyers with sellers through special, planned events. These successful events ‘match’ small businesses’ products or services with the purchasing needs of prime contractors, federal agencies, state organizations and PTACs. You’ll learn about eligibility and compliance requirements, plus attain valuable marketing strategies to spot the opportunities, streamline the process, and leverage your unique assets to secure government contracts.
WOSBs, or women-owned small business workshops, focus on the requirements of government contracting and how women-owned small businesses can become qualified vendors. The workshops help women-owned, small businesses, and economically disadvantaged women-owned, small businesses (EDWOSBs) learn more about eligibility requirements, compliance requirements, and marketing strategies to help make the most of ownership.
For more information on VT PTACs matching services, or WOSBs workshops, or to determine if your company qualifies for one-on-one assistance and counseling, please contact one of our individual Procurement Counselors listed below.
There are a number of ongoing telemarketing scams promising access to government contracts for a fee – some even representing that they are from the state or federal government. Please use caution when receiving unsolicited offers. Always take a name, phone number and physical mailing address that can be used to confirm whether or not the caller and offer are legitimate.
